Agia Galini

History
The current settlement of Agia Galini is built on the ancient Minoan city of SOULIA, one of the hundred Cretan cities that are described in the works of Homer. It was a place of worship, with a dominant temple dedicated to goddess ARTEMIS. The history of SOULIA goes on until the 7th century, when it was finally destroyed by pirates.
Sightseeing
In Agia Galini you can also visit the cave of Daedalus, where according to the legend, Daedalus hid himself, while King Minos was pursuing him. From there, Daedalus along with his son, Icarus, managed to fly to freedom using wings that he had made himself by gluing them with wax.[...]
